Male JRock or JPop? Which Would Do Better In America?
OK, so this came to mind. We do female artists in poles all the time. So let's do the guys this time. Gonna make it interesting though.
We have male J-Rock artists like:
L'Arc~en~Ciel
Gackt
alice nine
...and like a ton others
Then We have male JPop artists like:
Tohoshinki
Ken Hirai
Chemistry
....and a ton others as well
Just my personal opinion, but there's been more introduction to male J-Rock artists in America and Europe already. Heck even L'Arc~en~Ciel and Gackt
had a few small releases here through Tofu Records and Viz Media.

I admit, J-rock would definitely do great here, but male J-Pop could mean the return of boy bands in the U.S. That would be sweet. Especially since Japanese boy bands are 10x hotter than the Backstreet Boys ever were.

^Yeah, but problem is, most americans don't think asian guys are attractive. Also theres that stupid stereotype about the size of their lower personal
areas.
However i agree about most of the Japanese guys being a billion times more attractive than both BSB's and N'Sync.
PS. Ur siggy of Kumi's SOOOOOOOOOOO Hot! *starts picturing doing naughty things*

I know, it really sucks. It would be awesome to have Japanese, and other Asian, boy bands popular here in the US. I can just imagine
DBSK/Tohoshinki.... <3 How can any girl NOT admit Jaejoong's hot? xD But apart from their looks alone, their music could possibly go far. If only we
could be more open-minded here...
And thank you~ <3

I think the j-pop mens' look is viewed as too "feminine" in the west. They'd be slandered top to bottom because of cultural bias, and people who are
thought of as amazing in the west (like Jaejoong, who is cuuute XD) would get called very racist things, I think. I don't know why people always
insist on debuting in the USA because, IMO, Canada is a much better market for foreign artists. We have a HUGE Asian population who are encouraged to
preserve their culture, whereas in the States the situation is much more assimilation-style.

^I also think that Canada's a tad more open minded. however, this boggles me as to why most of the time when an asian artist does stop into our
continent for a concert they go to the US all the time. Look, even Utada released a North American album and she went to US and UK, but didn't bother
with stopping into Canada's large cities like Toronto and Montreal for example.
Also, i must agree about the jpop male style. Like until i got used to it I found it very strange that they'd wear pink at times... Heck, I've even
seen Ayu's dancers do it. However, i think if they did that here they'd probably never get respected, and people would never believe they were
straight. But i also think some of this applies to the female singers as well. Kumi Koda for example, could be successful here, but she'd have to
completely remove the "cute" from everything she does. She'd get labelled as Disney Girl or something if she tried to be cutesy here.

Well that's the big cultural difference from Japan and North America. The cute is kinda of chilidish and immature. I honestly though, would not know
how it would turn out.
But on the topic, the Jrock for sure. Tohoshinki would be made fun of as much Justin Bieber. but who knows!
